Bridgeport, California is a beautiful community in the central part of the state near the Nevada border. At an elevation of 6,463 feet, it has a spectacular location in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains and is an outdoorsman's paradise. In the winter, Bridgeport receives on average more than four feet of snow annually. The nearby mountains receive considerably more. There are numerous lodging options in Mammoth Lakes. The east entrance to Yosemite National Park via Tioga Pass is only about one hour south of Bridgeport. However, the route is typically only open during the summer months due to heavy snowfall.

In Bridgeport, State Route 395 intersects with State Route 182, which connects with Wellington, Nevada to the north. The nearest community of much size from Bridgeport is Walker, California. It is located thirty miles north of Bridgeport in the Antelope Valley, with the nearby communities of Coleville and Topaz, California.

Just a few miles north of Topaz is Topaz Lake on the Nevada state line. On the Nevada side of the border, there are several lodging options including the Topaz Lodge Hotel/Casino, a Super 8, and a Best Western hotel. However, Bridgeport is a beautiful place to stay. Its beautiful valley setting is the perfect stop over for many points of interest including Yosemite, Mono Lake, Bodie Ghost Town, and Lake Tahoe.
